I was involved in a MVA on Sept 12,2016 hired a lawyer which I don't always think he is working in my best interest. If I fire him and hire a new lawyer can he sue me for the work he has done in the last four months.

Depending on the work done you may get a bill from that lawyer but given that a relatively short time elapsed from the time of the accident it will likely not be significant and you have the right to dispute it in any event.
